Competition for the architectural and landscape rehabilitation of the A Panda da Dá estate
With the support of Fundación RIA, Finsa is promoting an open architectural competition for the architectural and landscape rehabilitation of the A Panda da Dá estate and to consolidate it as a space of opportunities for the sustainable management of the territory. The competition is open, non-anonymous and involves the participation of a jury. It is divided into two phases: a first one for the submission of portfolios and a second one for the five finalist teams to develop schematic design proposals.
Finsa launches an architectural competition to continue transforming its A Panda da Dá estate (As Pontes de García Rodríguez, A Coruña, Spain) and consolidate it as a space of opportunities for the sustainable management of the territory. This call will rehabilitate the architecture and landscape of its 410-ha site to accommodate new training and research activities, as well as to support visits from entitles involved in managing Galicia’s territory and across the value chain of timber.
The competition is conceived as an open and non-anonymous procedure, with the intervention of a jury, and organised in two phases:
— The first phase is based on the selection of curriculum and portfolio of the participating teams, where 5 finalists will be chosen to develop the second phase
— The second phase consists of the development of architectural proposals at a schematic design level, with financial rewards for the five participating teams
The call for entries for the first phase is open from 19 November until 18 December 2024 at 14:00 CET, as described in the competition brief.
The five shortlisted teams will be awarded prizes after the completion of the second phase:
— The winning team will receive a prize of €20,000 and will be assigned the subsequent contract for the project
— The remaining teams participating in this second phase will receive prizes of €5,000
The jury of the competition is composed of two representatives of Finsa and three architecture professionals with extensive experience and recognition: Aurora Armental Ruiz, cofounder at Estar studio; Graça Correia, cofounder at Correia Ragazzi studio; and Carme Pinós Desplat, founder at Carme Pinós studio.
Additionally, an advisory committee who will participate in the jury discussions, without casting a vote, made up of members of Finsa and Fundación RIA, will advise the jury on strategic issues for the company, forestry management, construction and sustainability.
All the information regarding the procedure, the estate and the functional programme is available in the competition brief and the technical specifications, which can be downloaded below.
