A Panda da Dá chooses the project for its future
Finsa announces the resolution of the architecture competition to rehabilitate the 410-hectare estate, with the winning team formed by Atelier Ander Bados, Estudio Copla, Bamba Studio, TO, and Senén Rivero.
Finsa announces today the resolution of the architectural competition for A Panda da Dá, promoted in collaboration with Fundación RIA and with the aim of consolidating this 410-hectare estate into a space of opportunities for the forestry sector.
The winning team, formed by Atelier Ander Bados, Estudio Copla, Bamba Studio, TO and Senén Rivero, was unanimously chosen from among the five finalist proposals.
Under the slogan “O bosque da festa” (“The forest of celebration”), the winning proposal articulates the existing heritage with a contemporary and sensitive vision of the productive and social uses of the environment. The jury — composed of Aurora Armental (Estar estudio), Graça Correia (Correia Ragazzi), and Carme Pinós (Estudio Carme Pinós), along with representatives from Finsa — especially recognized the architectural coherence, technical precision, and ability to create diverse spaces open to evolution.
The competition was launched in November 2024, and in the first phase, it received 54 applications, of which five were selected to develop preliminary project proposals.
As a result of this process, the winning team will receive a prize of €20,000 and the award of the contract for project development. The other four finalists — Arrokabe Arquitectos; Brandão Costa Arquitectos; João Mendes Ribeiro + Luísa Bebiano; and Colab + Assemble — will receive a prize of €5,000 each in recognition of their work.
Fundación RIA collaborated in this process by carrying out the preliminary studies that allowed the configuration of a new functional program for the estate, as well as supporting Finsa in the approach, development, and communication of the competition. Casa RIA, the foundation’s headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, will host a public exhibition starting May 28 that will showcase the finalist projects and the potential of A Panda da Dá as a space connecting the forestry sector, industry, and design.
