Casa RIA hosts a workshop on timber and territory as part of Piñeiros 25

31 October 2025

Fundación RIA took part in Piñeiros 25 through a technical workshop that brought together professionals from architecture and the forestry sector. The event at Casa RIA highlighted the role of Galician timber and the territory as the base for a sustainable, innovative and locally rooted approach to construction.

As part of the Piñeiros 25 programme – the annual international meeting on conifer innovation promoted by Fundación Arume –, Casa RIA hosted a technical session focused on exploring the relationships between architecture, timber and territory.

The event served as a space for dialogue between professionals from architecture, forestry research and design, fostering collective reflection on a constructive future grounded in proximity and the responsible use of resources.

Adrián Capelo presented the work of Fundación RIA in territorial planning and sustainable land management, using the Barbanza Ecosocial Lab as a case study, and moderated a discussion among several Galician architecture studios that use timber as a core element of their practice.

The session featured Chilean architect Cazú Zegers and Galician practices Arrokabe, Salgado e Liñares, Cambium Estudio and Gramática Arquitectónica.
