Design for Living. Material, process and everyday objects
On Thursday 5 February 2026, Casa RIA will inaugurate the first monographic exhibition dedicated to the work of David Chipperfield Design. The exhibition will transform the building into a space for reflection on design as an act of care, rooted in material, territory and everyday life
‘Design for Living’ is a review of the projects designed by David Chipperfield Design over the last 35 years. For four months, the first two floors of Casa RIA will house a selection of more than 50 objects, as well as prototypes, references and sketches that comprehensively reflect the design process, using the material offered by the territory as a foundation.
The idea behind the exhibition is that design is not and end in itself, but a means to serve us, to improve our lives. Based on this principle, the exhibition is complemented by a public programme that will bring together professionals from various disciplines such as graphic design, industrial design, fashion and editorial design. Through a series of talks, seminars and conferences, we will address issues such as the articulation of creative processes, the importance of visual identity and the role of design in everyday life, taking Galicia as the starting framework.
