NERU workshop begins in Porto do Son to reflect on new ruralities

9 September 2024

A new workshop within the Erasmus+ NERU-New Ruralities project started last Thursday in Porto do Son, being organised by the Universidade da Coruña and the Universidade do Minho, and with RIA’s support.

This intensive workshop in the Barbanza peninsula is part of the Erasmus+ project NERU-New Ruralities, made up of six European universities and other expert entities. After a first experience in Bulgaria last year, this initiative will now be developed in Galicia.

40 international students will be based in Porto do Son for the next 10 days debating the conditions and future of the European rural areas. RIA is one of the hosts of this programme and will support the students in connecting with local stakeholders and exploring different methodologies.

Throughout the workshop, a series of lectures and visits will invite participants to develop their proposals around four relevant topics: food, forestry, soil and water.

Further information about the NERU–New Ruralities project can be found on their Instagram profile.
