RIA presents the model villages experience at the Ultreia forum
Fundación RIA participated in the forum to share the process developed in Muimenta, where it has been working for five years to recover disused spaces and create new community services. The event brought together more than 200 representatives from public institutions, foundations and private companies.
Manuel Rodríguez, director of the foundation, participated in the conversation ‘Villages as a space of opportunity’, together with representatives of Fundación Juana de Vega, the Puxedo Neighbourhood Association and the town councils of Carballeda de Avia and Vilariño de Conso.
The work carried out in Muimenta and Penedo was presented at this event. RIA and Fundación Juana de Vega are collaborating in these two villages to support public administrations in revitalising abandoned populations by reviving economic activity and improving quality of life.
In Muimenta, the development of an architecture competition for the creation of a new social centre, the renovation of the Plaza da Festa and the creation of a community kitchen with an associated dining room are some of the actions carried out in a village that aims to be an example that can be replicated in other rural populations.
