RIA to collaborate with the Ministry on the implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda

6 April 2026

Fundación RIA and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda have signed a general protocol of action to promote the dissemination and exchange of knowledge within the framework of the Spanish Urban Agenda. The agreement will help showcase experiences in strategic planning, architecture and territorial sustainability, fostering the transfer of best practices among public administrations, professionals and stakeholders involved in urban and territorial development.

Fundación RIA and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda have formalised a general protocol of action aimed at sharing and disseminating experiences that contribute to the implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda. The integration of Fundación RIA within this framework recognises its track record as a reference organisation in strategic planning and territorial governance, articulated through studies and pilot initiatives with operational capacity and public impact.

The protocol was signed, on behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, by the Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda, David Lucas, and the Secretary General for Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture, Iñaqui Carnicero; and, on behalf of Fundación RIA, by its President, David Chipperfield, and its Director, Manuel Rodríguez López. For the Foundation, the signing opens a new avenue for institutional collaboration with the General State Administration to promote planning and territorial governance initiatives.

Through this collaboration, actions for dissemination, knowledge exchange and participation in conferences and meetings linked to the objectives of the Spanish Urban Agenda will be promoted. The protocol will make it possible to give visibility to studies, pilot initiatives and planning processes promoted by Fundación RIA, while also supporting the transfer of best practices to other territories. In addition, the agreement opens up opportunities for collaboration in activities related to the promotion of architecture and the development of public policies oriented towards territorial sustainability.

Fundación RIA’s participation in this framework will enable it to contribute its experience in strategic planning and territorial governance, as well as to share methodologies and lessons with a replicable vocation. The agreement therefore strengthens institutional collaboration to promote public policies aimed at more sustainable and coordinated territorial development.
