RIA to launch a call to support projects linked to the Eume region

23 July 2026

The call, which will be publicly launched in September, will support action-oriented projects that contribute to local development, conservation and the sustainable management of the Fragas do Eume Natural Park and its surrounding area, thanks to the support of the MOP Foundation. The selected projects will receive financial support, technical guidance and communications support.

This open call forms part of a broader strategic planning process being developed by Fundación RIA with the aim of contributing to the active conservation of the Fragas do Eume and strengthening its relationship with the wider region and the local community. The project, which is supported by the Marta Ortega Pérez Foundation, is structured around work with public authorities, local stakeholders, the productive sector and the scientific community, and seeks to build consensus that will make it possible to define, within the current regulatory framework, pilot actions geared towards the sustainable development of the territory.

Building on this work, several lines of action are being promoted in relation to mobility and territorial connectivity, productive activity and the activation of local initiatives, including this call.

In this context, the call will enable initiatives and stakeholders to become involved in the process. Its scope will cover the five municipalities that form part of the Natural Park: Cabanas, A Capela, Monfero, Pontedeume and As Pontes de García Rodríguez.

Initiatives may address issues related to architecture and mobility; the recovery and rehabilitation of spaces, infrastructure or heritage elements; economic and productive activity; the processing and marketing of local resources; as well as outreach, environmental education and public participation.

Particular consideration will be given to proposals that contribute to conservation and improved territorial management, strengthen recognition of the Fragas as a strategic asset for local development, and incorporate open models of collaboration.

The selected projects will receive financial support, technical guidance to facilitate their development and access to new funding opportunities, as well as support for the communication and dissemination of the initiatives.

The conditions for participation and the timetable for submitting proposals will be announced with the public launch of the call in September.
