The Common Grounds project is looking for artists for its residencies in Galicia, France, and Bulgaria

27 March 2025

Common Grounds, a European initiative funded by the Creative Europe programme and supported by the Carasso Foundation, is launching a call for artists to participate in its research and production residencies in Galicia, France, and Bulgaria. Fundación RIA is a partner in the project, along with La Citadelle de Marseille (France) and Gradoscope (Bulgaria).

The project, running from 2024 to 2026, aims to explore new narratives about soil and its importance in contemporary societies. Through collaboration between artists, researchers, and local communities, Common Grounds addresses ecological, democratic, and urban challenges from a creative and interdisciplinary perspective.

Artists from all fields are invited to participate, including visual art, architecture, video, photography, arts and crafts, performing arts, installation, and digital arts. Experience in collaborative project management with local communities will be highly appreciated. The artist’s interest in projects combining art, nature, landscape, art and science will also be appreciated. Applicants need to be fluent in the use of English, since it will be the main language during the programme.

Three artists will be selected for joint research and production residency at each of the partner spaces. The residency program lasts for 6 months between June and December 2025.

Selected participants will receive financial support, including artistic fees, accommodation costs, production grants, and travel expenses. There are no restrictions regarding nationality, age, or artistic discipline, but applicants must reside in Galicia, Marseille, or Sofia.

Submit your application by 13 April, together with your curriculum, portfolio and letter of interest. Please find the document of the call here.
