The Common Grounds residency arrives in Galicia

26 November 2025

The three artists selected for the Common Grounds residencies – Virgile Haëck, Andrea Popyordanova and Mar Ramón Soriano – have already begun their stay in Galicia after their time at La Citadelle in Marseille (France)

Their artistic work in Galicia will focus on the importance of soil in Froxán (Lousame), a territory marked by pollution from the former San Finx mines and by the environmental restoration efforts led by the local community.

In addition to getting to know the situation of Froxán first-hand, the three artists also visited the EASD Mestre Mateo, the FMJJ Art Centre, the Cerámicas do Castro factory and the Uxafores research group’s laboratory on Campus Terra (USC).

Common Grounds offers an opportunity to build collaborations between local communities, researchers and the cultural sector, and to raise awareness of the importance of soils as a non-renewable resource.

Once their stay in Galicia is over, the residency will make its final stop in Sofia.

The Common Grounds project is looking for artists for its residencies in Galicia, France, and Bulgaria
