UNAV students visit the model village of Infesta with Fundación RIA
As part of the collaboration program between RIA and several universities, students from the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra visited last week the Model Village of Infesta, in Monterrei, as part of an academic project focused on the sustainable development of Galician rural areas.
Accompanied by the mayor of Monterrei and representatives of the Xunta de Galicia, the students and their professors were able to visit the village and identify the main challenges facing rural areas in this region. This experience allowed them to better understand the local context and begin to define the objectives of the projects they will develop during the next academic semester, which will focus on the revitalization and sustainability of rural areas.
The following day, the group moved to Casa RIA, the foundation’s headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, where were held a working session with the participation of all the entities involved in the project. The activity included the intervention of Fundación Juana de Vega, which addressed the territorial context of the village within the framework of the Paisactivo program.
The program represents a unique opportunity for future architects to become involved in the sustainable development of rural areas, while strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and local development initiatives.
