Finsa and Fundación RIA are collaborating to promote an architectural competition that will transform A Panda da Dá, a 410-ha estate near A Coruña
Santiago de Compostela, 18 October 2024 — Finsa will continue to transform its A Panda da Dá estate (As Pontes de García Rodríguez, A Coruña, Spain) to consolidate it as a space of opportunities for the sustainable management of the territory. With the support of Fundación RIA, the Galician timber company will promote an architecture competition in November, which will allow the buildings at A Panda da Dá to be renovated to accommodate new training and research activities, as well as to support visits to the estate by entities related to land management and the timber value chain.
Linking forestry, industry and design
Finsa aims to connect with the entire forestry industry chain for the creation and consolidation of this space of opportunity that respects and values the natural and built heritage. Clients, collaborators, neighbouring forest communities and other key agents in the sector will play a fundamental role in the promotion and development of A Panda da Dá.
After 30 years carrying out a multifunctional management in this 410-ha estate, Finsa wants to take a step further to turn A Panda da Dá into a space of opportunities where to show and develop the potential of the sustainable management of the territory.
Collaboration with Fundación RIA
Finsa is a Galician timber company dedicated to the industrial transformation of wood for almost a hundred years. Working to respond to the needs of both the ecosystems and the construction sector, Finsa manufactures, transforms and process products derived from wood: boards, decorative surfaces, components for furniture and laminate flooring, etc. In their processes, based on the development of innovation, design and circularity, wood improves its efficiency.
Fundación RIA, a non-profit organisation founded and presided over by the British architect David Chipperfield, worked hand in hand with Finsa on the analysis, strategic design and the establishment of conditions and quality standards. This preliminary work laid the groundwork for an architectural competition to be announced in the next month, after which the deadline for receipt of applications will open.
