Journalist and Head of Content of AD Spain Maite Sebastiá visits Casa RIA to inaugurate the ‘Design in Conversation’ series. In this first session, David Chipperfield will speak with Maite Sebastiá about the objects that accompany the act of eating and their relationship with culture and territory.

The conversation, titled ‘Celebrating Everyday Objects’, will focus on objects connected to food and cooking, approaching design as a key element in the creation of shared experiences.

The event will invite reflection on the spaces where these practices take place and on the objects that accompany the act of eating, considering their functional, symbolic and cultural dimensions. The session will be led by Maite Sebastiá, Editorial Director of AD Spain, who will engage in an open conversation with David Chipperfield about the objects that surround us and their relationship with territory, proximity and gastronomic culture.

‘Design in Conversation’ is a cycle of four talks within the public programme of the current exhibition at Casa RIA, conceived as a space for dialogue about the role of design in everyday life.

Following the conversation with Maite Sebastiá, the next three sessions will feature Tim Marlow, Edward Barber and Alice Rawsthorn in conversation with David Chipperfield, exploring different dimensions of design: the objects that accompany us around the table, design culture, the craft of design and design as an attitude.

Maite Sebastiá has an extensive career in journalism and education, particularly in areas related to fashion, lifestyle and design. She holds a degree in Journalism and studied Fashion and Public Relations at Central Saint Martins and the London Fashion School, as well as participating in digital art projects at Sotheby’s. She also holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Management (La Fábrica, Madrid).

Born in Valencia, she is an expert in architecture, design, fashion and lifestyle. Since 2021 she has led the Spanish edition of Architectural Digest and is considered one of the most influential women in the fields of design, architecture and art in Spain.
