Art historian and Director of the Design Museum in London Tim Marlow visits Casa RIA to take part in a new session of the ‘Design in Conversation’ series. On this occasion, Tim Marlow will speak with David Chipperfield about design culture and its role in contemporary society.

The conversation, titled ‘Design Culture’, will approach design from a broad perspective, exploring its role in contemporary society and its capacity to shape the way we understand and inhabit the world.

The event will invite reflection on how design is communicated, exhibited and interpreted, as well as on the role cultural institutions play in its dissemination. Tim Marlow, art historian and Director of the Design Museum in London, will engage in an open conversation with David Chipperfield about design culture and its presence in public life.

‘Design in Conversation’ is a series of four talks within the public programme of the current exhibition at Casa RIA, conceived as a space for dialogue about the role of design in everyday life.

The series brings together Maite Sebastiá, Tim Marlow, Edward Barber and Alice Rawsthorn, who speak with David Chipperfield about different dimensions of design: the objects that accompany us around the table, design culture, the craft of design and design as an attitude.

Tim Marlow is an art historian, writer and curator. He is currently Director and CEO of the Design Museum in London. Over the course of his career he has held several roles in major cultural institutions, including the Royal Academy of Arts, and has developed an extensive activity as an author, lecturer and broadcaster on art and design.
