Students from UNAV present their projects in the village of Muimenta
Having worked during the past semester on several academic projects for the reactivation and rehabilitation of Muimenta, the students from the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra (UNAV) are now presenting their results at the Carballeda de Avia Town Hall.
Within the framework of the collaboration agreement between Fundación RIA and the Town Council of Carballeda de Avia for the development of the revitalisation plan of the model village of Muimenta, the creation of collaborative links with academic and research institutions and entities of the economic, civic and social fabric is promoted. This initiative made it possible to develop an academic programme with the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra (ETSAUN-UNAV), as part of the CT Lab Carballeda de Avia agreement, signed by the three entities.
Led by guest professor Fermín Vázquez (B720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos) and professor José Ángel Medina, the 5th year architecture students developed the academic programme for the first semester of the 2023-24 academic year by addressing the challenges and problems of rural areas, specifically the implementation of a functional programme in the model village of Muimenta to enhance its economic and social reactivation.
The presentation of the projects by the students and teachers of the ETSAUN was held yesterday, opening the exhibition that will remain available to the public in the Town Hall of Carballeda de Avia for several weeks. The event was attended by the institutions involved in the Model villages strategy and in this collaboration, as well as by other invited institutions that face the demographic challenge through different initiatives, strategies and policies.
