RIA hosts the first “Provenance Projected” international symposium
Fundación RIA hosted the first international symposium of Provenance Projected, an international project made up of researchers from various disciplines working with the concept of provenance.
Provenance Projected is a multidisciplinary research project involving architects, artists, preservationists, anthropologists, art and architectural historians, as well as the Madrid-based Factum Foundation for Digital Technology in Preservation.
It is directed by professor Mari Lending at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, and funded by the Norwegian Research Council (2023–2027). The core purpose of the project is to reinterpret the 18th century concept of provenance (traditionally used to describe the ownership records of art works and archeological artifacts), and transpose it into architecture (spanning from monuments to the vernacular and more mundane structures).
The first international symposium of the project—which brought together the whole group from different disciplines and countries—took place at Casa RIA and other locations in the city, with the assistance of the foundation’s team.
