The chef and co-founder of The River Cafe restaurant in London will feature in this second meeting with a special format: the open recording of an episode of her podcast Ruthie’s Table 4, where she will talk with architect David Chipperfield about the role of markets and the importance of local production and gastronomy.

The public event will be held on Tuesday, March 18 at 6:30 pm at the headquarters of Fundación RIA in Santiago de Compostela, in a free event for which prior registration is required.

Following the talk, A Cantina will offer a dinner co-designed with Ruthie Rogers using seasonal products, the result of her visit to the food market. This special menu requires prior reservation and is priced at 40 euros (plus booking fee).

The ‘Encuentros de mercado’ programme is part of Casa RIA’s special programme on the role of markets in the territory, carried out in collaboration with the Xunta de Galicia as part of its commitment to boosting and revitalising markets, included in the future Strategic Plan for Galician commerce 2025-2030.

The program opened with British architect and author Carolyn Steel (Tuesday, February 18) and continues now with Ruthie Rogers (Tuesday, March 18), to end soon with a meeting with Galician chefs.

The structure of each of the days consists of a visit to the shop with Iago Pazos – chef at the head of A Cantina de Casa RIA and the restaurant Abastos 2.0 – to learn first-hand about the seasonal and local products available. Afterwards, the co-creation of the menu is developed between the guest personality and the chef. Finally – open to the public with prior registration – a conference and a debate are held, as well as a gastronomic experience to taste the resulting menu.
